When To Go Best months are marked

Shimla from March to June and again September to November; the Spiti road is open from June to October.

Getting thereFly or take the train to Chandigarh; Shimla is 3 to 4 hours by road. Spiti is a two-day drive beyond Shimla, in a 4x4 with your own driver.
Weather and packingShimla 15 to 28°C in summer, snow from December. Spiti is cold at night even in July and sits at 3,600 metres: take the first day slowly.
Food and shoppingSiddu, madra and apple everything. Kullu shawls and caps on the Mall; cash for Spiti, where cards rarely work.
