The pink city, the golden desert and the city of lakes

Rajasthan is known for its royal heritage, its forts and palaces, its colourful culture, traditional cuisine and vibrant markets. This route takes the three that differ most: the historic streets of Jaipur, the golden desert of Jaisalmer and the romantic lakes of Udaipur.

You spend two nights in each. Jaipur is forts, palaces and bazaars. Jaisalmer is the fort, the havelis and an evening on the Sam Sand Dunes with a camel safari and folk music at a desert camp. Udaipur slows down, with the City Palace and a boat ride on Lake Pichola at sunset. You travel by road throughout, with breakfast and dinner every day.

1. Day 1 Arrive in Jaipur Jaipur

   Our representative meets you at Jaipur Airport or Railway Station and transfers you to the hotel. After check-in and time to freshen up, proceed for local sightseeing: Hawa Mahal and Jal Mahal, then the local markets of Jaipur. The evening is free for shopping and leisure.

2. Day 2 Forts and palaces of Jaipur Jaipur

   After breakfast, a full-day sightseeing tour of Jaipur.

   • The magnificent Amber Fort
   • A photo stop at Jal Mahal
   • City Palace, showcasing the royal heritage of Jaipur
   • Jantar Mantar, the historic astronomical observatory
   • Birla Mandir

3. Day 3 Across to the desert Jaipur to Jaisalmer

   After breakfast, check out and drive towards Jaisalmer through the landscapes of Rajasthan. On arrival, transfer to the hotel, check in and relax. The evening is at leisure to explore the surroundings or rest at the hotel.

4. Day 4 Jaisalmer and the Sam Sand Dunes Jaisalmer

   After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of Jaisalmer, then head out to the dunes for the evening.

5. Day 5 South to the lakes Jaisalmer to Udaipur

   After breakfast, check out and drive towards Udaipur. On the way there is an optional visit to the Ranakpur Jain Temple, subject to available time and road conditions. Arrive in Udaipur, transfer to the hotel and check in. The evening is at leisure.

6. Day 6 Udaipur and Lake Pichola Udaipur

   After breakfast, a full-day sightseeing tour of Udaipur.

   • In the evening, a scenic boat ride on Lake Pichola with the sunset and views of Udaipur's lakes and palaces

   After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Depending on your departure schedule, enjoy some leisure time or last-minute shopping, then transfer to Udaipur Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey.

A look at the route

Before you book

• The drives. Jaipur to Jaisalmer and Jaisalmer to Udaipur are both long days on the road. If you would rather break one of them, ask us about adding a night on the way.
• Ranakpur is optional. The stop at the Ranakpur Jain Temple depends on the time available and road conditions on the day.
• Entry fees and extras. Your quotation states exactly which entry fees and activities are covered. Anything not listed is paid on the spot.
• Making it yours. Add Jodhpur, Pushkar or Ranthambore, change the hotel category, or adjust the nights in each city. Tell us before you confirm.
